Civitans move shoes for Soles for Love

Each year Soles for Love directed by Julie Gaver gathers new donated shoes and gives them away to various organizations for children who desperately need shoes to begin the school year. SHIP (Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership) was eligible to receive 208 pairs of the more than 5,300 pairs of shoes given away July 30.

The Civitan Club members assisted SHIP in gathering, sorting and moving the shoes for distribution later to the clients that SHIP represents.

The Frederick Civitan Club has been serving the Frederick Community for 77 years. Civitan’s provide services to many organizations in the Frederick community and focus on serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Civitan Club meets the first Thursday of each month, 6:00 p.m. at Ledo’s Pizza, 490 Prospect Blvd., Frederick. For more information, call 301 606-0542 or go to civitan.org.
